Students’ understanding of factors that affect shooting accuracy during fire training

The scientific article highlights the importance and peculiarities of understanding factors that affect shooting accuracy during fire training classes with students of higher education majoring in «Law enforcement» of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Special attention is focused on the use of elements of the high-precision shooting technique of combat sniping at various stages of fire training as a component of the professional training of future law enforcement officers.
The conclusions state that the legislation of Ukraine grants the right and obliges law enforcement officers to keep, carry and use firearms as a last resort in order to perform their official duties. The use of firearms is a measure of last resort. The tactics of using weapons, special means, and measures of physical influence are considered and practiced by students during practical classes on tactical and special, firearms, and physical training. While the society shows high confidence in police officers, it also places a great responsibility on them to ensure that the weapons entrusted to them are used only to protect the interests of the state, rights and freedoms of citizens, public order and property from criminal attacks.
Mastering the factors that affect shooting accuracy during firearms training is of great importance for further mastering the skills of a shooter while working in law enforcement. Special preparatory marksmanship training exercises help to master shooting techniques and tactics better and faster, and to develop special physical and mental qualities of the shooter.
In the authors' opinion, especially during the period of the special legal regime of martial law, it is advisable to change the approach to the concept of "shooting" in the training of future law enforcement officers and make it systematic and regular. To do this, it is necessary to amend the curriculum and significantly increase the number of academic hours for firearms training.
