Abstract

The relevance of the article is determined by the need to discuss the role of prosodic characteristics of voice in the process of forensic examination of voice and speech in video and audio recordings.

The article aims to describe the system of prosodic parameters of voice and speech and define the role of prosodic characteristics in the examination of video and audio recordings.

The methodological basis of the study consists of a system of generally accepted and specialized methods and approaches. Both general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, generalization, etc.) and linguistic methodology (systemic-structural and cognitive-discursive approaches) were used.

The research results emphasize that the system of prosodic characteristics requires the expert to be knowledgeable about the peculiarities of sound articulation, psychophysiological processes of speech formation, and linguistic phenomena of language. It is established that the prosodic parameters of voice and speech are studied within the framework of video and audio recording examination using technical and linguistic methods. Prosodic characteristics add a significant supplement to the process of voice and speech identification, as they express the characteristics of the speaker's individual style, the peculiarities of their pronunciation, the algorithms of speech construction, etc. It has been established that prosody plays an important role in the communicative act, serving as an indicator of speech intentions, emotional moods, and semantic potentials. The system of prosodic parameters of oral speech specifies the logical and semantic unity of utterances and contributes to the reproduction of communicative situations. Prosody expresses a range of rhythmic and intonational features of spoken language, complements nonverbal communication, and facilitates the speaker's identification processes. Identification procedures for verifying the speaker using technical and linguistic methods involve analyzing the voice and spoken language, reflecting the algorithms and patterns of voice and auditory line creation. In forensic examination of video and audio recordings, prosody is a factor in the linguistic recognition of the speaker, reflecting the basic parameters of the voice – intonation, pitch, rhythm, melody, stress, tempo, pause, etc. It has been proven that prosodic characteristics significantly influence the way certain information is conveyed, which is adjusted and specified precisely due to intonation characteristics, volume, tempo, pitch of speech.
