Increasing the level of physical fitness and self-defense skills of future law enforcement officers of Ukraine

Abstract

A brief analysis of the problematic issues of improving the level of physical training and self-defense skills of students majoring in “Law Enforcement Activity” are made in the article. It is substantiated that the need to increase the level of physical training and self-defense skills of future law enforcement officers is a very important issue, because in modern conditions National Police officers in the exercise of their powers, often use physical force, physical force, fighting and hand-to-hand combat offenders or termination of their illegal actions. Particular attention is paid to effective functional physical training of future law enforcement officers of Ukraine. The following aspects of preparation of future police officers for performance of their daily duties on protection of public safety are defined: general physical training; sports training (special physical training); self-defense (self-defense tactics). The purpose of teaching the discipline “Physical training and skills of self-defense” is substantiated, namely: the formation of systematic theoretical knowledge and primary practical skills for the use of self-defense systems in potentially unusual life situations that threaten human life or health by outsiders. It is determined that according to the results of training, future law enforcement officers should be able to coordinate the activities of public safety and order, as well as communication with individuals and legal entities in order to respond in a timely manner to crimes, administrative offenses and events; to adapt and act effectively under the usual conditions of law enforcement activities and under conditions of complicated operational situation; work autonomously and in a team, performing official duties and solving complex specialized tasks of law enforcement.
