The article examines juvenile delinquency as a particularly vulnerable group in modern society, and also identifies the determinants of this negative phenomenon. This problem remains relevant today, as it has potentially negative consequences for young people and society as a whole.
An important aspect of the article is the analysis of the reasons and conditions of juvenile delinquency as a whole, because they are interconnected and cannot be considered separately from each other. In particular, such factors as deficiencies of family upbringing, homelessness and neglect, the desire to assert oneself, cooperation with criminal groups, as well as the influence of mass media and other information resources were analyzed.
The authors analyzed a number of legislative acts and found out the procedure for conducting judicial proceedings in relation to minors and the requirements for judges who conduct them; terms of consideration of criminal proceedings, the participants of which are teenagers.
The authors analyzed court practice, which made it possible to find out what factors influence the motivation of minors to commit criminal offenses. In particular, such factors are: insufficient life experience; the influence of the environment; tendency to imitate the actions of others; the desire to be independent and not subject to parental control; a peculiar interpretation of such concepts as courage, honesty, friendship; lack of critical assessment of specific life situations.
